S.W.A. IN THE WILD
The historic range of the Somali Wild Ass is a relatively small area running from southern Egypt to central and southern Somalia. However, due to poaching, encroachment of human population and interbreeding between domesticated and wild species, this range has diminished to a tiny area of Somalia, and most of the state of Eritrea. Possible sightings have been reported in southern Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia.
